Telluride Schools Top State List
During the pandemic, Telluride saw an influx of families choosing to relocate to this quaint mountain town permanently. While moving is one thing, guaranteeing a good education for children for years to come could be another concern. But not in Telluride.
In a recent report by Stacker using data compiled by Niche, the Telluride School District ranked #2 in Colorado when comparing academics, teachers, health and safety, college prep and clubs and activities. Its one negative remark was diversity. Niche also ranks school districts based on a variety of criteria including academics (SAT/ACT scores and state proficiency tests), teacher salaries, expenses per student, and access to extracurricular activities.
The Telluride R-1 School District has 885 students in grades K-12 with a student-teacher ratio of 10 to 1. It encompasses Telluride, Placerville, Sawpit and Ophir.
